In a cubicle far, far away, a young woman dreamed of being liberated from panty hose and corporate bureaucracy. She dreamed of a job that was truly an expression of her passion, and three years later, Opportunity Barks was born.
That young woman was me and I will tell you, there is nothing more fulfilling to me than making a difference with people and their pets. Second to that, is watching my own pointer girl run off leash with wild abandon, fetching tennis balls, chasing gulls on the beach or splashing in puddles on the trail. It's those moments that have me be grateful for her companionship and thankful that I have the opportunity to share my life with her.
It's my commitment to help you create the relationship of your dreams with your dog so this world can have more well-behaved and loved companions for everyone to enjoy.
We at Opportunity Barks believe that every interaction with your dog is an opportunity for learning. We use these daily opportunities to create a training plan that works for you, your dog and your life. We use only humane, positive methods to create a relationship built on respect, fun and play.
Opportunity Barks uses positive methods to open the lines of communication and lay the foundation for a relationship based on respect, fun and play.
Positive methods based in operant learning, involve the use of positive reinforcement: earning rewards (food, praise, play) when your pet does what you'd like them to do- with and without being asked. We use a sound- a word or a click to mark behavior and then follow it with a reward.
